Has anyone noticed any programming messes on eBay recently? I have noticed two:
Searches are not working properly. Many searches are coming up with 0 items due to mishandling the search terms. There might be a search like "fixture (xyz, zyx) -small -big* -medium" which turns into "fixture xyz zyx small big medium" when searched for. ALL of the search terms are listed in one line with all the punctuation gone and all the "-" signs gone. Makes it kind of hard to find anything. Yet when you look back on the "My Searches" page everything is correct. They are just parsing the data base incorrectly.
The FORWARD and BACK buttons do not work in the search item list pages either. The buttons on the mouse AND on the browser header are both inoperative. This is not consistent with all searches but it makes going back and forth in the search pages a little cumbersome. I have to use the "pages 1 2 3 next" link at the bottom of the page and the "My Favorites/ Searches" link to navigate around. The FORWARD and BACK buttons work other places on their site, just not between pages of search items.
If they are making errors like this should I trust them to handle my personal account data correctly?
I get on fairly regularly and have noticed the "extra" items problem they list for motors but those other problems have been going on since their page redesign. They are totally ignoring the problem reports.
Thank you for writing eBay in regard to the problems with the "Forward"
and "Back" buttons.
We have received some other reports of this and are currently
investigating this issue. Your patience during this time is greatly
appreciated. Occasionally these unfortunate situations do arise. We work
our hardest to reduce the frequency of these events.
The searches are still all messed up and returning zero items, even the ones I retyped and "fixed" are messed up again. Have not heard anything back on that yet. Makes eBay kind of useless if people can't search correctly. I hope they refund listing fees while search is messed up.
Apparently they now admit there is a problem with search...

Some members may be having issues with Advanced Search. For example, restraints used to narrow search results (such as by category or price range) may not be working consistently. We are aware of these issues and are working to correct them.
The way it is now searching is so messed up it isn't even worth looking on eBay. Not only are the categories messed up but the other search terms are still messed up. How can they mess up code this bad and not have a good set of code archived to install that works???
Ebay has had their share of server problems this year. I sell on Ebay regulary and get my share of program errors. What annoys me most is listing something and not having the pictures show up for a day or two.
Whatever the new thing is I am not using it. The regular old fashioned search is not working well enuf to use. I can imagine a lot of people are not looking for items at the moment just like I am due to the fact that stored searches do not work. I can re-enter the search each time but who wants to do that? Especially when the forward and back buttons don't work so every time you enter an item you loose your search and have to enter it again! I hope they refund listing fees until they get this sorted out, like that will ever happen. People that list a lot of items must be noticing declining sales.

It is affecting all saved searches, they are not parsing their saved search database properly. Check my first post for a small example. Right now they are not even reading min/max price or even ebay categories like the quote in post #7 says. I can correct the search and save it but their program will not read it correctly the next time it is used. It is a giant FUBAR. I have 70 saved searches that I use occasionally.
Still broken, did get the same tired "We have received some other reports of this and are currently investigating this issue." routine... They did say I can still use basic search. AFAIK that IS what I am using and have been using for many years.
