Exhaust systems

i've made up my mind on an exhaust system for my 02 F250 cc 4x4. i'm leaning towards a 4inch MBRP system. now my question is should i get the stainless steel or the aluminized exhaust? i live in GA so road salt and harsh winters are a concern. this is my daily driver and i really dont tow too much wth it.
any thoughts?

thanks!

well, if i were you, i would get the aluminized. i live in MD, and i've rememdied the part about the rust, by painting the system (spray) with ceramic 500* engine block paint. of course i have stack piping, and i did the underbody and in-bed part all in satin black, and it looks great. it is a really cheap alternative to preventing rust, if you don't care about a flashy exhaust. if i were you, i would get a long 24" tip and paint back to that, so most of the tip is showing and you can't see much piping.

the stainless 409 is considerably more than an aluminized version, and in a few years it will start to rust, if you don't polish it. i dont know about you, but my exhaust system was LOONG, and i dont want to disassemble it and polish that many feet of a 4" tube, so i didnt go that way. you won't need to do that on a T-304 system which is top of the line, however that's twice as expensive as an aluminized system.

while i was at it, i heatwrapped my downpipe because i knew temps would be higher than the 500* that the paint was rated for. it looks good. if you want pics, just ask.

I got teh same one, but I went with the stainless. it will last longer , and I plan on having the truck a long time. I would suggest the stainless either way, but some say it gets shinny if yoiu take care of it. your choice its your pocket book.
good luck

exhaust systesm

Thanks for the advice!
Strokin_it7.3 could you send me the pics of your exhaust mods? I'm intertested in the downpipe heatwrap. sounds like a good plan to reduce underhood heat.

MJ I went with aluminized here in bama for that reason not really any justification for SS except for looks

Unless you are just set on MBRP thos guy here builds excellent systems for our trucks
http://stores.ebay.com/MKO-DIESEL-PERFORMANCE

Just put his 5" on mine and way cheaper than MBRP

I'd go with stainless just because it will last forever plus it looks sharp.

dont worry about the towing, there is no performance difference. the advantage to aluminum is that it dissapates heat better. the advantage to steel is that it lasts longer in the elements. to me, weather is the only factor in this decision. if u live in GA go with the steel.

mjlewis,

Aluminized steel will do all you want and last a long time in GA. Be sure to get the MBRP system that allows you to bolt in the factory cat, keeps the dealers happier etc. If you have any questions on it please call us we are the USA's oldest MBRP distributor etc.

here, look at this. most of the pics are relevant to the exhaust. never mind the first few smoke pics.

Kris, did you make a drain plug in your system just in case you get water in your stacks?
