I'm having a problem verifying torque spec on the head bolts for my 2.3 liter dual overhead cam 4cyl . i dug up a haynes manual that gives me specs in inch lbs ? its a 2002 ranger and uses the torque to yield type bolts. if it's inch lbs so be it i guess but the old ones certainly were tighter than 89 inch lbs coming off. Anybody have better info, plaese post.

The torque spec in inch-lbs is probably for the valve cover bolts, not the head bolts.

 

sorry my initial glance was a little off. the book gives 5 stages 44inch lbs, 132inch lbs, 33 foot lbs 90 degree turn, angle tighten another 90 degrees. 33 foot lbs still sounds a little low but better than inch lbs
