I have SNAPPED !!

Last week was wild around our neighbourhood, Monday someone broke into the house while we were at work, got as far as daughter's bedroom and took $120 of her babysitting $$ . This happened at 10 in the morning. The lady that phoned me to say our dogs were out running and that she returned them checked the house and told me the back door was open. She must have scared the B&E artist off.
So now i have to buy a home alarm system !!! So much for having 2 dogs in the back yard (Collies just aren't intimitating enough)
The rest of our neighbourhood has been having problems this summer with B&E.
So.....Friday morning Daina hears the dogs barking (they bark lots all the time !!) looks out the bedroom window and says there is someone walking thru the yard !!
I was in a dead sleep and in 15 seconds was up and out the bedroom door, off the deck and i bodyslammed this guy into the side of the garage....all in my underware. Grabbed him by the shirt collar and hauled him back to the outside bedroom door. Daina tossed me my pants and while I'm quickly putting them on he bolts over the neigbour's fence.
Now I am 40 and out of shape, he was maybe 19 or 20, drunk and now scared but i caught the SOB half a block away.....I was Mad now !
I shoved again and grabbed him, but now what am going to do with him ? Well he slugged me twice in the head and bolted again into the swamp. I left him go, my head hurt, I didn't have glasses to see (not sure how i even ran that far without them).
So i limped home, rounded up the my 18 yr old son who was now up and looking for me.
My yard has a 6 foot high fence all around the back, he had no need to be "passing thru", my one eye is very black and swollen now, and ouch does it hurt to walk !
I just snapped, Daina was yelling for me to not hurt the guy (she changed her mind later) but i could not strike this person.
He had no problem hitting me and aiming for the head.
Soooo.......who can tell me about electric fences

Sorry to hear about that. Agricultural grade electric fences aren't powerful enough to be a deterrent unless you got them wet. Not that I endorse this in any way...

Wow man that is some action, looks like I might have to move up to la ronge! Personally, I dont have a problem slugging people. Then again I am 6'3 and 235 pounds. The whole break in thing sucks, I prefer vigilante justice, and I think you did a good thing by scaring the sh@t out of him. As far as electric fence's, all you need is a few boobie traps set up, forget the electric fence! I know my one friend in saskatoon was having problems with someone breaking in his garage at night, so he set out an animal trap. One morning it was off, and there was a few pieces of tattered clothing there, no blood, and he never had a problem with his garage getting broke into again.

Several years ago a friend forgot his wallet at home so we headed there from the bar to pick it up, when we got to the house the front door was wide open. There was 4 of us and we had a look around the house, and found a guy hiding behind one of the doors. We dragged him into the living room and called up the rest of the guys from the bar and they came over too. The guy who owned the house was a huge fan of the early style ultimate fighting and he beat the crap outta the crook. For some reason the thief keep looking around so we did another sweep of the house and found another guy hiding in one of the basement closets. He got the same treatment. We set them free when we had delivered justice, and they both were bawling there eyes out like a couple of little girls.

Last week a guy I work with got ahold of the man who stole his quad runner in the spring. He beat him senseless in the town bar, and is now up for 3 different assault charges.

If you Catch them in the act don't involve the police or you may end up as the criminal. To many crooks have the revolving door justice system figured out.

Ease off on the electric fence. One of my co-workers uncles had a problem with ______ breaking into the quosent. He set up his welder against the door and fried a guy. Now that Aboriginal descent guy is suing.

Yes it is getting bad in toon town. The criminals now will not hesittae to give you a shive. So you really have to be carefull. This weekend a 47 yr old was killed by someone attempting to get in his house. He got droved over by the thief and died.
Electric fencing today results in charges against you. They charge owners that do this. I remember when I was 20 and this lumber yard did this. I saw the guy they caught. He was stuck on the fence all night. They got him off the fence in the morning. The guy was in bad shape from the continous low voltage shocks from the fence. It was a chain link with the barb wire at top. The top wire was electrified, when he touched it he fell on top of the fence and his further struggles just partially collapse the fence and further trapping him.
I remember seeing this guy hanging from the fence and they were trying to get him out of it. The lumber yard got sued.
So electric fence is out. You will get charged. You can set your yard up with motion dectors and light and alalrms. But then you start to disturb the neighbors.

Pretty mucht he best thing to do, is put in some motion detectors with cameras, catch the guy on camera, and then he can still get in trouble. That way you cant get sued or anything.

That revolving door in the legal system has got to go. Criminals do what they want as there are virtually no consequences, no matter who pays in the end. I personally love vigilante justice. This way they learn a hard lesson. Will it happen again... not without a memory of the "one that went bad."

The revolving door should go, but it just doesnt seem to be changing at all. And now unfortunatly, criminals really know how to use and abuse the system.
