Tire Pressure recommendations

Hi folks,

What is the recommended pressure to run on the 275/70 18 "E" loadrating when the truck is empty. The max is 80 PSI, which is way too much for an empty truck. What do you guys run?

Dave

GKDave,

Go to the Rubber Manufactures Association website here

http://www.rma.org/publications/tire...cationID=11309

Then click on the Adobe Acrobat file named
"Replacement Guidelines for Passenger and Light Truck Tires"

Then go to page 23 and at the bottom of the page it lists the load carry capacity of that tire size for air pressures from 35-80psi. You can use this as a guide to help you air down when empty.

Hope this helps

From: right here in michigan
i run my fronts around 50-55 lbs and the rears 40 unless towing.then i pump the rears up to 50 -60.with them aired down and the trailer on it gets some sway and the tires squat too much.empty with them aired up the rear feels bouncy on the lovely michigan roads.with them aired down a little it feels much more stable and not bouncy.i always run with the fronts the same.

I run 90% in Front, the PSD is heavy.

I run 70% in Rear.

Translation, 72lbs in Front and 56lbs in rear.

The truck handles well, tracks well and the tires seems to wear well. Provided I let my wife drive the truck.

Her foot is much lighter than mine.
