Hi All, I'm new here. I have been reading some of the posts. Looks like a good board. I have question right away. On my '94 F-150, the horn doesn't work, the cruise doesn't work and the airbag light keeps flashing. I looked at a wiring schematic and found that they share a common circuit. But I don't know the best way to start checking other than the fuses. Any suggestions? Thanks
My 89 had a similar problem. What happened was a quarter fell in the cig lighter and not the ash tray. Instant short.
does it blow fuses as soon as you put them in? I would disconect the cruse and horn plugs, give it a day. If the air bag light stays off, plug the horn back in and give it a day to blow the fuse. If the air bag light stays off, plug in the cruse control and give it a day. Isolate one, reconnect them one at a time until you get a fault.
99% of the time, this is caused by a bad clockspring behind the steering wheel. This is what allows the wiring to hook to the wheel for the airbag/cruise/horn buttons, and lets it turn with the wheel.

Something along these lines was mentioned by someone else, altho he didn't mention the clockspring. He said it is almost impossible to fix by myself because of the airbag. He said it should go to the shop. Is this true? Thanks for your help.
I have never done it before. I do not know if it's impossible though. You have to disconnect the battery and let it sit for 1 minute before you mess with it to let the airbag system turn itself off. And you also have to pull the steeirng wheel(steering wheel puller required).
Here's a little bit more info. You will notice they use a "airbag simulator" to simulate the airbag. But they use this so they can power the system up again without the airbag. You shouldn't need this if you leave the battery disconnected.
