Air pump question

I have read quite a few posts on air pumps in the search section. My truck seems to be different than most.I have a 1975 f 100 with a 302.The pump goes into a half inch tube with a check valve. The tube terminates into the exhaust pipe before the catylitic converter. The exhaust has a leak where it goes into the exhaust. At one time the exhaust had some sort of fitting but some one JB welded the fitting back and as expected it failed.Since the truck has a cat I assume I must have this pump working so I would guess I'm gonna be brazing that fitting back in.Does anyone have a truck with this setup?I'm not ready to start removing stuff off of this truck as it is very origional for better or worse so removing the system is not something I want to do at this point. An emissions diagram would help if someone knows where to find one.

The air pump is to injection fresh air into the catylitic converter to assist in burning gases in the exhaust system.Which means lower emissions. www.Autozone.com has emissions diagrams.Type in you vehical info and go to repair guildes.
