CD Upgrade

I have a 2003 Explorer 4 Door 4x4 with a Factory Single Cd/Cassette. I would like to upgrade it to a 6-CD Ford Factory Radio out of a 2004 Explorer. Will this work without any issues and if not what are the issues

I do not know, but here are some things to check. Size and connections...

For size, obviously the new cd-player needs to be the same size. This is realy a vertical measurement for the front of the radio deck. There are basically 3 different sizes, standard din, din and half, and then double din. You can purchase kits to use a smaller radio decks in place of larger decks. For going larger, most cars have little trays that are eliminated to gain the additional space.

For connections, the back of the radio will need to adapt to the same plug that would be normally used. There is a change that the plugs will be the same, in this case, you have it made simple plug and go. If the plugs are different you will need to wire your speakers and power to the harness of the new radio. It is relatively easy for anyone who works with electronics or is handy at all. Wiring diagrams for the wire color codes are available on the internet(see link below). If you get the new radio deck just make sure it has the wire plug harness for the back of the radio, otherwise you will have a difficult time with wiring if your existing plug is different.

Best link ever for car stereo installations.
