Beach driving

I just got back from vacation at the beach and while I was there, I did a little four wheeling out on the beach. It was a blast, but probably not the smartest thing to do with a brand new $35,000 truck. Any of you guys drive on the sand with a CAI. I was looking at getting a Volant, but was wondering what effect the sand would have on it. I must have spent hours cleaning sand out from every possible crack and crevice in the truck. It was worth the trip though, I got to pull out a Chevy truck that was stuck!

Nice! Any wheeling is good wheeling. The Volant intake would be just as good as stock where mud, sand and water are concerned. Check out this link. https://www.ford-trucks.com/article/...ect_Truck.html

That's a great installation article because the Volant is known to not come with the most detailed install instructions. It's a great intake for the F150 and we have them at the Motorhaven shop, entering FTEDEAL into the shopping cart will give 20 bucks off on the order.

There's also some customer user comments on the product page here for added input:

Most CAI Manufacturers offer what is known as a Pre-Filter. I know for a fact that Volant offers this. Its really nothing more then a slip cover for your filter to prevent Mud, Dirt, and sand from fouling up the filter.

Volant does have prefilters, you'd want to be sure to keep it clean after wheelin though, I've always kind of thought that they restrict the air flow a little but good for keeping mud and dirt off:

They Do restrict a little bit...I would assume though if you were using one you would only do so when it is needed. I mean I myself wouldnt leave it on there all the time.
