Question sway bar link?

I have read on here about alot of people with clunking noise coming from there front ends, I have the same promlem and found the sway bar link lower bushings to be bad, my ? is. Does ford or the aftermarket sell just the bushings or do I have to buy the whole link assembly from ford. I pressed one out and it is a ball and socket type bushing and from what I can see the aftermarket only sells the universal polyurathane bushings.

thanks,
mike

If you're asking if there are aftermarket rubber, press-in type bushings, I don't think so. I'm not sure if Ford sells just the bushings or not. But in truth, I've had a lot better results on all my vehicles, regardless of make, by switching-out the stock rubber bushings for urethane ones. They tend to last longer and act better. Usually, I get them from Energy Suspension.

Be careful when getting the ones from Energy Suspension to get the SuperDuty specific set and not the generic set. The SuperDuty specific set is a softer durometer and therefore will not ride as harsh. They will almost certainly have to be ordered; I got mine through NAPA.

the complete link assembly from ford are $50 each. 1 end comes with the bolt already in it and 1 doesn't have the bolt. you have to use the old bolt for that side. . i had to go buy the other bolt because it was rusted in the link. the axle mounts i got from energy. $20 pair. poly bushings.

Just the bushings. The Energy Suspension SuperDuty specific kit includes the (4) polyurethane inserts for the endlinks as well as (2) polyurethane pieces for where the swaybar attaches to the axle. All pieces are impregnated with graphite for squeak free performance. I changed the endlink pieces out with a bench mounted 5 ton hydraulic press.

im thinking of getting the energy suspension, and the kit from autozone says front swaybar end link bushings, $38.99, is that jus the basic or the SuperDuty ones? I looked it up for a 03' F250 4x4 and the part number was 4.5186R. so i figure it is and i hope it takes care off all my clunking and banging lol other than needing to replace my steering shock.

Before you buy the bushings take a look at this thread.

He just bought the same bushings and was told by Energy that they had placed the wrong size bushings in that kit.

Also the "R" on the end means that the polyurethane is red and much harder than the "G" parts which are black. The red parts have a greater chance of sqeaking once they are installed, the black's formula contains graphite to help prevent the sqeaking. I had the Autozone bushings once and took them back.
