well guys I dont know if this is a first or not but here it is, my 89 390 powered FE chevy in the process of being built. The only things that had to be done to get it in there were, motor mounts, moving the steering box about an inch and a half, and making the transmission crossmember.
I imagine some folks will really be pissed when that hood comes popping open at then end of the strip, maybe a little hesitant handing over that pink slip Cant say I condone this but it beats the other ******* scenario dont it LOL it's about time someone gave them a taste of their medicine LMAO
Ha! That'll stick it to them Chevy boys! It's about **** time someone did something like this. My brother is into the early '80's chevy trucks. I'll have to show him pictures. Take more pictures and post when you're done!
I do have a few questions.
First, what oil pan are you going to run?
Second, what are you going to do about the exhaust? Some form of headers I hope?
Third, and most important, when are you going to get the motor built?
As for the oil pan I am going to run a rear sump with some modification done. I don't know about exhaust yet. The stock manifolds will fit, but I don't want to use them. I may have to for a while though. I actually have a motor built I am just using that one for mocking everything up. The motor is a 390 s code motor with a 941 cam, 3 angle valve job, crane roller rockers and new rings and bearings. I'm not sure on what carb I am going to run, suggestions would be great. And for those who want to know about the trans and rear end, I have a c6 and a ford 9" with 3.75 gears.
GREAT!!!! Now your truck is goign to rust out from underneath that FE! LOL!
Just razzin' ya. It would be great fo you to paint that truck Chevy orange, and to keep your FE Ford Blue. That way when you pop that hood, it really stands out.
Maybe even paint on the tailgate: "Ford power is the only way, for my Chivrolet."

Sounds like you got a hot motor there. After you get it running take some video or sound clips of it and post them on the Sound of FE Thunder thread....Holley makes some good carbs for the FE's. I just got a 750 for mine and it seems to be alot better then the Ebrock I had on there. As for the Ford motor in a Chevy....um LOVE IT!! It is usually the other way around.
Will someone please tell me what a s- code 390 is. I assume it is a factory designation. What kind of power did it make? When were they built? What cars did they come in? Stuff like that.
sorry for resurrecting the dead. I was just posting to inform everybody that the truck was finished early this year. I ran it at the track for 2 passes. I ran a 7.26 on the first pass. Second pass I hit the wall and totalled the truck. Thats what happenes when an axle breaks, not very fun.
