I want to change the steering/braking combo on my stock '63. I do not want to go the front clip route and have read several interesting articles about products and changeovers. Here's what I want to do. I plan to use an '84 power steering box out of a Toyota 4x4(looks easy but to long to get into here), and marry that to an '86 TBird tilt column. Then I want to use mono-leaf springs and disk brake kit on front end.(From another article I saw in the most recent issue of Classic Trucks). This all looks and sounds reasonable, but I would really like to hear from anyone who has even come close to tackling any of this.

If you are successful, you really should write it up for some format. One item that this board failed to remedy this past year were the requests for a power steering setup without going with a new front clip. I did see a 56 panel truck with a leaf spring-power steering rig but the owner said he bought it that way and didn't know anything about the conversion. The tie rod layout was scary as it was re-aligned to get under a set of headers. Be sure to let everyone know how this proceeds.

I have become more interested in the clip idea you spoke of. Do you have info on this or know who I could contact that may have done the job. I am wondering about the year of the Volare/aspen, cost, the whole nine yards. Now that you have opened a can of worms, maybe you could help me go fishin'. Thanks for your help.
