I think the Tampa Bay Lightning have already been mathematically eliminated from the play-offs. Like the Bucs. And the Devil Rays. What am I gonna do all winter? (Don't tell the wife I asked that!)
I was really happy to see hockey begin as my baseball team did not make the playoffs. I'm not even particularly a fan of any of the teams that OLN (oops Vs) had on last night, but I watched to the bitter end anyway.
By the way, the Buffalo looks like a slug, I second that. I didn't like the previous buffalo head either. Afterall the name of the team is "Sabres" not buffaloes.
Oh, and I overslept this morning. I'll have to be careful about staying up watching the hockey in the future.
and I think the Blackhawks are going to be improved this year. (Can't be too hard to be better than last year.)
I'll be interested to see how the Canucks do now without the "Contender" status from the past couple of years. I find that to be the curse for all teams labelled as such especially now with the a salary cap in place.
Well the Blackhawks looked pretty good Thursday night, but they allowed way too many shots on goal. Tonight they played Columbus and lost. I didn't have a way to watch it, though.

I hope you didn't fall for the pre-season success hype. They gave up six goals to a not so awesome offense.
Pat Foley not doing play by play is disturbing to say the least. 25 years I listened to that guy. I must be getting old, being so resistent to change.
Maybe someday Hockey will return to Massachusetts?
What about the Bruins?
Or if you're like me, you don't care about hockey anymore. I used to live to watch hockey. And then the poor babies went on strike so now I could really care less about it.
That strike was pretty sad, but you have to admit it is nice to get a cap on the teams now, that way there is no possibilities of having a "new york yankees" team in hockey!
I can agree with that but it was a just a pain to lose almost a full season of hockey while they squabbled over their differences. Yeah it may have hurt the players and owners but the fans were the biggest losers. Especially since hockey has been struggling to keep a good fan base for quite some time.

No way. Hype is exactly what'd it be if pre-season led to people having too high of hopes. Pre-season is ok for a warm-up and to see what lines work well together (basically the same for any sport). The real season started last week and I'm with you, 6 goals was way too many to give up and when you consider how many looks at the net Nashville got, it was very reminiscent of last year.
As for Foley. I only started watching the Comcast games last year. I'm relatively new to hockey. I had no idea he had been affiliated with the team for so long until the split.
Oh, and Hawk, you may not have much of an NHL team right now, but last year both Boston College and Boston University were very good as I recall.
