i know this forum is dedicated to ford pickups, but i have a dilemma that i am unable to resolve without the help of the learned regulars on this site.
on a '70 mustang, with the ram-assist steering, is it possible to tighten the linkage where the bolt from the pitman arm passes through the center link? there is enough play to allow 1/5 steering wheel play, which is excessive in my book...
i know that bolt, or pin, what have you, actuates the control valve, and that logic says it should be adjustable, but logic has failed me before. i can't find a single reference to how to adjust said setup, and lacking the funds to replace the whole unit with a power rack just yet, i'd like to make it as drivable as possible until it is feasible to replace the steering....
You can purchase a rebuild kit for the power steering valve setup quite cheap. i guess the first answer is "NO" is it not adjustable. Get the rebuild kit and you will be fine.
