Ah, always the big question - how much $$$$ do ya have in yer wallet and how much "bling" do ya wanna buy! I have just a single 3" exhaust on my truck with a fairly decent flowing muffler. It sounds "manly" enough, not very loud unless you really get into her and get the RPM's up into the higher range. I put on a set of Edelbrock headers this summer and I really like the extra punch from the 'ol girl even though they "mellowed" the sound at the tail pipe a bit. If I were a rich man, which I am not, I'd probably go for the dual exhaust just because I like the look of it esthetically. My exhaust guy is the one who convinced me to go with the single exhaust based on cost and, in his opinion, better performance than duals. Just my.02
Yeah i don't know how much i want to spend yet. I guess if i can find the right gear i willin to spend what it takes! Right now my 88 is still pretty much stock. I have gutted the cats and installed a single flow. It sounds low and growls at 3g's but I want that deep sound that makes people think you've got a big cam and a blower. Oh the money we spend to make those motors sing!
do 3" true duals with flowmaster 40 series or 10 series?..the racing series. Have them as far forward as you can.
I had the same setup as you. hallowed ct with single 40 series delta. Sound sucked. I now have true duals, 2 dynomax ulfa flo welded mufflers with chrome tips at 90º. Cackles. About the loudest sound besides straight pipes witha 302
