Need Some Tire Sizing Help...
I am looking to buy some new tires for my 2000 F150 4x4. I have been looking around, and am interested in buying a set of BF Goodrich All Terrains.
My stock tires are 265/70/R17. The BF Goodrich's come in the following sizes for 17 inch rims:
LT265/70R17/C
LT265/70R17/E
LT285/70R17/D
LT285/70R17/D
LT305/65R17/E
I am looking to increase the diameter of the tires (to around 33 or 34 inches), while keeping my stock rims. I am a novice in the whole tire thing, and wanted to know which size would accomplish what I am looking for. Also, if someone could explain how to mathematically get tire diameter from the sidewall that would be a big help. Any advice is appreciated.

Rather than try and explain it and screw it all up, here's a link to a page with a calculator and explanation on metric tire sizes: http://www.4lo.com/calc/gearmetric.htm
You can punch in the specs and it'll tell you the diameter. Looks like both those sizes are about the same diameter but the 305 will be a bit wider. If I remember right the letter code at the end designates the load range and will not effect the size.
