My 351M is about 8.5 inches between the heads, so I would agree that you have a cleveland motor. The Ms have a 1" taller deck height, thus wider intake manifold.
Craig, will you get some pictures of that engine and make them available for viewing. The guys here are straining their gonads trying to identify an unseen motor, and you are implying that no one is helping you.

In the still cool hours of the night, you can hear chevys rusting away.
Craig,
Try this website to help id your engine. Go to fomoco.com. Then go to the "Resources" link. Then the "Ford Engines Reference" link. A menu will come up with about 20 different Ford engines, complete with a basic sketch of the engine, dimensions and other pertinent info. May give you a little help.

Whoa there! I never implied that poeple weren't helping me! You guys have been extremely patient with me and I appreciate all the input more than you can imagine. I listed everything that I have been told to look for and figured it was enough. Unfortunately, I don't have the finances to post any pictures at this time. Please, no one take offense at anything I've written here. Maybe I'll just leave now, before I screw up anything else...
