Well, I'm gonna replace the auto hubs on my explorer as I am sick of dealing with them. The options are either Warn, Pro Comp or MileMarker. I don't do a lot of hardcore wheeling as it is my daily driver and regularly will use 4 wheel drive this winter. What do you guys reccomend before I order up a set tomorrow.
When I had my F-150 I had a set of Warn's on it and I never had a problem with them at all. I haven't heard bad things about MileMarker either though. Myself, I'd go with the Warn hubs any day.
ive seen warn hubs on many trucks and they always worked great, i had a minor problem with mine but id imagine it was a fluke, the spring jammed on it once so it wasnt actualy locking in the axle
I replaced the auto-hubs on my '94 Bronco with the Warn hubs and adapter. They worked great. I got an extra set for another Bronco NIB sitting in my garage.
I just got my hubs today and picked up the conversion kit from a local place in town. That conversion is so easy. It took me about an hour to do the conversion and that includes cleanup time and screwing around with the jack in the parking lot. Its so nice to not worry about the damn auto hubs clicking and ratcheting anymore. I actually feel like I can drive the truck offroad without breaking the hubs.
i have an 02 f250 5.4 4X4 my question is how do i know if they lock auto..or manually..i know i can turn them to lock them but when they arent locked in ..are they auto. it sounds stupid i know but im new to this whole 4x4 thing
Is your truck electronic shift 4x4, or lever? The manual shift Super Dutys have plain old manual hubs. The electronic shift ones are auto(vacuum operated) with a manual override.
its manual shifted into 4x4 mode so im guessing its manual locking hubs..just another question can you drive with them locked.im guessing no cause it would cause some damage yes? maybe im wrong
