G'Day I am looking at making my first ford purchase and figure there is no better place to start than a 4x4 F Truck!!
I live in Australia and over here they are highly priced for there age. For something in average condition I am looking at around $7,500 US and for a rig that has been restored in excellent condition without modification around $12,000 US.
What advice can people give me on things to check and look out for to make sure I get something that will last and not to out to be a bucket of *****!!
Shoot! Im moving down under and bringing about 10 F150s with me. Like most people will tell you, dont buy one with a lift. Trucks with lift kits are ran into the ground. Rust is key. If it has rust in key spots, frame, suspension, and etc thats a bad idea. Make sure you take it out and get it up to speed and temp because alot of problems steam from high speed and running temp. Im sure others will have pleanty to add so stay tuned.
Check the usual. Engine oil, Low? Dirty? How's the oil pressure, Low? Does the transmission shift like it should? Does it make any noise that should not be there? How does it handle on the road?
