93 F150
Poped the hood the other day to put some washer fluid in.
Now it wont latch closed.
I'm going to describe it as best I can here, forgive me for sounding like a girl, I am one
So there's 2 ltches, the one you pull inside and then the leaver you push to release it. The leaver part will latch again but the main part wont.
I've looked at it and it appears like the parts are just too coverd in dirty grease to move properly any more.
I scraped off what I could get at but same issue. I'm going to drench it in WD40 but don't have confidence. If that doesn't work, any other suggestions?
I have the same problem with my supercab (it's a 93 as well) and what has happened with mine is that the cable release inside is not returning. I have simply pushed the handle back in and the hood latches. Cleaning and lubing the hood latch is a good idea to do every time you change the oil and filter too.
Well I cleaned it up with Gunk!
Still wont latch.
I tried moving the parts around to get it to latch manually with no luck.
I think I need to find a new latch at a junk yard
Look at where the release cable attatches to the hood latch. It is a plastic affair and has a clip so it can sit in a square notch. It may have come out of position and causing a problem.
