After Market Muffler

I have an 06 F250 PSD auto. I have upgraded the computer by way of the Hypertech III. Great so far. I wanted to know if I could gain anything by just changing out my stock muffler with an aftermarket or go with changing the air intake setup first.
Thanks Ken Bailey

You don't get anything but better sound....maybe a few degrees lower on EGT. Why bother with a muffler at all?? I installed a muffler delete pipe....sounds great!

Ken Bailey,

Changing the muffler helps, but you're still stuck with the Ford small size pipes and non mandrel bends so it's sort of a band aid etc. Get a system that allows you to keep the cat in place or that uses a cat test pipe so you can reinstall the cat for dealer visits etc. MBRP and AFE both make systems that will do that for you and the cost is actually pretty low ands then you';ll get teh max flow rate and EGT drop. Most folks that do a muffler later do a system anyway and then they have spent money twice and used mufflers don't sell for much either. Next would be an intake so you have flow in and out, they key to diesel efficiency etc. Call us if you have any questions we'll be glad to help you.
