throttle hang up- 02 hd

i recently purchased an 02 hd f150 "awesome truck" ive had gen 1 lightning and saleen stang in the past. i recently experienced a throttle hang up on my hd. i stabbed it about half throttle , ran it up to 3 gear and backed out of it and the throttle hung at about 1600 rpm, pulled to a red light and it idled down to about 900, took it out of gear idle went back to 1600, stabbed it a few times to see if that would settle it down, but it did not help. drove for about 5 more miles and the idle was still hanging at about 900 in gear. pulled over put it in (N) and blipped it a few times , stuck it back in gear and everything returned to normal. when i got home checked for any obstruction on the tb no issues, checked the cable under the dash same thing no issues. i guess my question is , has anyone ever experienced this problem before, if so what might be the cause of such a problem. not a good feeling when the throttle hangs. any help would be appreciated.
