I just bought a 2004 F150 Scab that had a Tommy Gate on it. I took the lift off (have the tailgate and bumper) and discovered that all of the hardware to mount the tailgate was removed. I tried going through a couple of dealers, but they all have no clue on which parts to order. I thought they were BS-ing until I had them fax me a parts diagram for the bed. It looks like a kindergartner drew it (utterly ridiculous). I've called a couple of wrecking yards and they say that they don't have the newer body style in their yards. Does anyone know the part numbers that I need? I looks like I need 4 pieces for each side (left and right). Rubber cushion, cable mount, striker, and bottom hinge that the tailgate slides into. Thanks.

try car-parts.com this is a site for yards everywhere,if you search for a 04 tailgate and find a yard nearby you that has one call and ask for the parts you need.dont forget the - in car-parts.com
try contacting a tommy lift dealer in your area. They likely have them laying around and would sell them to you for next to nothing. They certainly dont need them and I would think they are the ones who remove a set with every Ford sale.
Thanks 4wdriver and BigD. I tried a couple of the yards from that site today and they said "good luck!" I also called some Tommy Gate dealers and they either give the tailgate and hardware back to the customer or if they end up keeping the tailgate, they sell the tailgate and hardware together. I can't believe how hard it is to get these damn parts! I've put in a couple of calls to a big truck dealer and some number that Ford Customer Service gave me for obsolete parts (worth a shot). I also put in a parts request through lkq.com.
