Are you planning on running Fuel injection if so you're not gonna start anything without a "brain"? If not (don't quote me on this) the block should still have a provision for a dist combine that with the proper aftermarket intake and you're in buisness.

Otherwize I don't think you can trigger an optispark dist without the ECU

The block should have a provision for a dist. It should have a blank oil pump drive installed in place of the Dist.....Now you realize that a normal SBC intake manifold WILL NOT fit LT1/4 heads you will have to buy a pretty $$$$$ aftermarket intake.

What engine are we talikin about LT1 or LT4 what year.

I did check in to the intake more and found several people running them..Its just that the center bolts go in veritcal and the old style go in at a angle..I will mill the bolt holes vertical and make washers that have a 45* angle on one end and the heads work just fine...thanks for your in put..there must be some way to fire that dist. where theres a will theres a way...thanks for your help...bill

I'm tellin you man, If you can get an intake to fit that has a hole to install a distrubitor, You're set as the block still has the cutout for the distrubitors shaft. GM just installed a "dummy" drive in the distrubitors place to drive the oil pump.

However I still don't you'll ever get anything (besides smoke) out of an optispark without a computer.
