I have a '64 F250 with a 292 v8, and I plan on doing the conversion as soon as the points need changed again. Although it will work with your stock coil, I plan on going with a higher voltage, high performance coil. I've also done the big-cap distributer conversion, being discussed in several different threads, and 8mm wires.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, stirs the soul, saying I'm a bad **** like lettin'em rip with a window shaking, fuel gulpin, carbon monoxide belchin, attention gettin, V-oh my LORD!-8!
Crew95, Pertronix Ignitor is one of the best and easiest improvement you can make on your 292. I'd leave the rest of the system stock for now unless it needs upgrading. I'd do the big cap and fat wires next. Followed by platinum plugs gapped at 60 and a mallory coil. I did this 5000 miles ago and have had absolutely trouble free operation since. 66 F100 390CI C6 SWB
