I posted in an earlier thread that I'd bought an '05 Powerstroke 4x4. I use my trucks offroad quite a bit and was wanting to get a more aggressive tire than the Continental street stockers the truck has now.
To my surprise Goodyear and the original tire company are the only ones making tires in the 275/75/R18.
I was hoping to get a tire that had a tread pattern that was kind of a cross between an MT and AT with 3 ply sidewalls. What is everybody replacing the stock tires with?
Does anyone have any experience snow plowing with the stock contitraks? I have an 06 F350 PSD and plan on doing some plowing this winter with the stock continentals. The tread doesn't look very aggresive, and I am wondering if they are up to the job. I'd sure hate to buy 4 new tires. Thanks, John

I plowed with them.. They will not be bad if you only have a few driveways.
But you need to be carefull they are very slippery in snow... Great highway tire, but thats all.
If you live in an area that gets a lot of heavy wet snow then you will be doing yourself a big favor by dumping the Conti's or getting a winch installed, your going to need it...
Thanks for the responces, I'll check out those Toyos. Goodyear is supposed to have a direct replacement with a pretty knarly tread. Goodyear has a history of being pretty flimsy, but tire shops are claiming the quality has really gone up on this one. Don't know.
I got fo the Cont. tires! They were the worst tires I have ever owned. They were as bad on snow as rain. After 10,000 miles they gave me a rough ride. At 20,000 they had to go! I purchased Cooper STT 35x12.50x18 and put them on a stock 18" rim. Best thig I ever did.
Ive run the Toyo open countrys and found them to be one helluva tire. I think I got about 38,000 miles out of theso they weren't too bad on that. Traction was through the roof considering the are a't's. The Nitto terra grapplers are equally as good. I'm running those now in a 325/60/18. getting excellent service out of them so far. Just do your homework as the prices can vary greatly.
From what I'm hearing the new Goodyear prograde silent armour tires are supposed to be an awesome tire. 3 ply sidewall, band of kevlar in the tread and guaranteed to 50k miles.
I've got a trip to South Dakota planned in two weeks, when I get back I think I'll get a set of those babies and see how they roll.
