I've settled on a cam for my '83 302 and am now looking for parts and pieces to make it all work. I plan to pull the engine, change all the gaskets and seals, replace the water pump, cam, timing set, lifters, and springs. What is the most cost effective way to get the parts? Is there an off-the-shelf kit for something like this? Right now it looks like my best bet is to buy an overhaul gasket set and lifters, springs, and timing set seperately. Hoping someone knows of a cam kit that includes the three latter items.
well the cam you chose should have the type of spring/lifters they recommend that is if you went with a company brand like compcam, crane etc... as for everything else check out PAW for a kit.
Comp Cams is telling me OEM springs and lifters will work. Have to get new lifters with the new cam and thought new springs would be a good idea while I'm at it.
