I have a 04 PSD Lariat with 45,000 on the dot and I noticed thanks to everyone on here that I had a possible head gasket problem and didn't even know it. This sight is great and I would like to think everyone!!! I have a aftermarket exhauste and intake that came with the truck when I bought it and I took it to me local Ford dealer and they wouldn't work with me they just wanted to put a new coolant bottle on it and push it out side. I stressed to them that I had a warranty on it form the place I bought it and if it had a head gasket problem that I wanted them to test for it and I can get it taken care of. I picked my truck up and they got me for 2 hrs labor for $112 and then took me for $75 bucks for the coolant tank that the truck didn't even need because it had bad head gaskets. I don't know why the tech wouldn't work with me he told me that the powertrain warranty didn't apply to me and that my truck runs to good and that it has a chip in it. Little did he know that I have a friend at the local Mercury dealer that scanned the computer and the truck came back as stock. Why wouldn't they check for me or even work with me at all? I found a dealer a 120mi away from me that would touch my truck and I told they on the phone that it had a intake and exhauste on it and they called me a couple of days later and said they are putting head gaskets in it. I bought ARP studs and was wondering if there is a certain way they have to go in?is there any certain torque sequence? I was told by someone to go center out and go 125LB than 250LB is this correct please let me know thanks Chad.
The studs will only go in one way if that is what you were asking. Do a 3 step sequence increasing torque working from the center of the head out and tighten to a finished torque of 240lbs using the proper lube on the stud threads.
