Odd noise from steering collumn while in reverse.

I have a 1993 F150 xlt 4x4 with a 5.0 and AOD transmission. When I put the truck in reverse there is an odd buzzing/whining noise that comes from the steering collumn or area around it. Any ideas what this is and how to fix it?

Actually, the sound seems to be coming from the dashboard or firewall.

Ive got the same noise. If you wiggle the gear selector, it changes pitch. Hope someone here has an answer.

Yup same with mine. It is probably one of the most annoying noises ive ever heard.

I think its the transmission (AOD). Might be the TV cable needing to be adjusted. I messed with mine and it seems to have quieted down a bit.
