anybody have issues with no interior light coming on?
i have a 99 and i checked all fuses and relays, but it looks like the G.E.M. module runs through the interior lights, and that what it looks like it could be
just wanted to see if anybody else had this problem
there is a mercuy switch in the door latch. most of these switches caused the light to stay on as well as the door ajar lamp on the dash check there. chris
My interior lights used to stay on when all the doors were shut. But, that was a couple of years ago, and it seemed to fix itself. But, it was a little irritating, especially at night.
im going to pull the drivers door panel off and check the switch, the pass side door when open triggers the door ajar, but not the drivers, and there is no interior light not even when turning the dimmer switch on?
ok i replaced both door jam switches, located in the latch assy
now i have the door ajar warining working on the dash and i have the key buzzer, but no interior lights or the bed lights, all bulbs have been replaced, but no power
my interior light doesnt turn on either when i open the door, but i have hit a few large bumps on the freeway and it turned on then off. i have no idea were to look.
You could save yourself a ton of trouble if you could check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes. That would probably pinpoint which circuit is malfunctioning. If you can't get your hands on a scanner, there are a few things I would check.
It sounds like your door trigger wires are working now. You said you checked all the relays. Did you power them up and continuity check the relays? I would start with the interior light relay. I'll post some pictures of this in my gallery. If the relay is good I'd see if it gets any power where it plugs in. If no, the next step would be to check the battery saver relay control pin on the GEM. If it's acting up you won't get power to the interior light relay. You have pull the fuse/GEM panel down to check this. The GEM is piggy backed to the fuses.
You really should pull the codes. There are so many wires and relays and connectors, and it would save you hours of being under the dash. It would really suck if you messed up your GEM. They are very pricey. Not only for the module, but the dealer has to program it and then reflash every update since it was built to the present.
I hope this helps you some, but trying to troubleshoot electrical is hard to do over the computer. You could benefit greatly from an AllData subscription. For electrical, its worth every penny.
