shifter problem

My shift lever seems to have worn out suddenly and seriously, somewhere within the linkkage. I can't find the issue, but it seems to be somewhere in the steering column. I can't make it go into PARK, and the letters (PRNOD21) don't line uo whit what gear I am really in. I can't figure out where to get int this thing to tighten it up. Any clues?

Thanks!

If I remember right I believe that someone here said that there is a couple of Torx screws in the column that loosens up and can cause problems.

Those are tight. I think maybe the trouble is the piece the bolts screw into. It's so deep in there I can't see it to figure out what to do.

Hi Dave:

From what I read here, there is an aluminum tube on that column for shifting. Check and see if it's half broken.

How do I get into it to check it? That sounds like you might be right.
