At this time my van is out of commision for a number of probs. I have a bunch of brake lines that are rotten from rust. I'm changing an exhaust manifold, and I have a charging problem. I started this in August, but because of the heat, and the fact I'm doing this in the driveway, I put it on hold till now. Nice cooler weather.
I changed the manifold once already, but ran into a problem, and have to do it again. I was buttoning up the exhaust manifold, when I realised I would need to pull the alternator to get at the EGR tube. Just as well, since it's not charging anyway.
I felt since everythng is original, I would just change out the alternator while it was off the engine. This is a little differant set-up than I'm used to. The mounting bolts run crosswise instead of front to back. I took out two mounting bolts, but it felt as though there is at least one more. Just about then, My droplight shorted out, so I figured I'd call it a day, and start out tomorrow whith a new droplight. I was hoping someone has had some experience with this type of alternator, and if there's more than the 2 bolts I took out.
