Battery Light
I have had my battery light come off then on several times lately. Is this perhaps due to a battery that is 6 yrs old (i have checked the fluid levels) or more indicative of a more serious elec. problem. I have accidently drained the battery once maybe twice ever. Also the speedometer gauge seems to all of a sudden have a bad light behind it (part of the gauge is no longer lit up). Any advice would be appreciative. I also have an A/C issue. It is cycling between my A/C and Defrost ducts...I posted this about 2-3 days ago...although i think this is more vacuum related. All these problems appeared within a few days of one another a coincidance or ?

get your alternator tested. It will shut off the AC when it needs to send power some where else! I had the same problem drive across the country and by the time I found a parts store I toasted both my batts!

A six year old battery should be replaced at the first sign of electrical problem. Even if it happens to not be your specific problem - which I doubt - you're going to be replacing it soon anyway, so do it now. If your electrical problem doesn't go away, then you know it isn't the battery.

I agree, that battery has given you a useful service life. Keep an eye on the voltage. If it is consistently under-voltage, it will crap out on you soon and probably most likely when you least want it to. I never fool around with the battery on any of my vehicles and replace them as soon as they show any signs of weakness.
