Vacuum Troubles or not?

Well my dad finally saw my truck yesterday. Told me I need to hook up a hose from the vacuum tree to the distributor thingy and he also saw the hose to the transmission was disconnected and capped. does the tranny need vacuum to shift correctly?

Come on guys I gotta have this truck running by this week...dad is taking the car from me and giving it to my grandfather...

Can anyone take a pic of the top of their motor with where all the vacuum lines run to? Or a detailed map of the lines?

yes it needs vacuum to shift. and the vacuum on the distributor is for the timing advance

Should have full manifold vacuum to the transmission modulator. The distributer usually gets a ported vacuum signal from the carburator base.
