I think there is a bigger issue here. Look at the cars/trucks he owns. This was a Ford guy that got frustrated and left the mark. That is where owning any vehicle, regardless of make, when it becomes a problem and the customer has bad service etc. with a dealer or company, it can change the next purchase.

Absolutely correct! That's why after having a GM card for 13 years and using it to purchase a couple of new trucks (I occasionally strayed ), after my experience with the LLY Dmax, I closed the account and told them I would never buy another under-designed, final testing done by the customer, vehicle from GM again, ever, period!
I hope he doesn't miss his PowerStroke a bit since he just paid a ton more for much less truck. Our company is on a DMAX lease and wish they had stuck to FORD. The mechanic just laughs and keeps clocking the hours on repairs.
Hey if the guy said he was gone...Why can't we say anything cruel...(GRIN)!!!
Wait till they work a recall on it through his OnStar while it is in the driveway and he gets up to a truck that won't start. That has happened several time here recently with the programs they currently have. Heaven forbid he has a downloader on it. It will erase the program and mismatch the VIN on his downloader. Then he will have to pay to have the downloader reprogrammed. Nasty!
POW!!! I wasn't going to go there but that's exactley what happened to one of our VP's last month. Talk about a pissed off guy! Of course the mechanic thought it was funny because he doesn't like programmers. It was a new FlashPaq that got tagged. The dealer had to go pick it up and get it running again. I would have never thought that could happen. So it proves they can pop you at any point. Possibly everynight reboot your system and flash your vehicle. The input/output of the OnStar is much more powerful than people think.
Oh well...Now that I've totally hijacked the thread...At least we might learn something new from him buying a DMAX(GRIN).

I wonder what the tuner industry has in a way of backup for things like this. Of course it's limited to GM-OnStar vehicles, but there are a lot of them out there. I guess you would have to buy a fairly basic DMAX to not get OnStar? I know in the GM sales brochure it talks about how the OnStar system is constantly monitoring the vehicle 24 hours a day. The day before the VP's truck got zapped he did receive a call from OnStar that his battery voltage had dropped below11.8vlts for more than 20 minutes while he was driving.
So much for one year FREE OnStar....I wonder if maybe they are constantly sending out small patches for different items. I guess WE won't find out(grin)...
