Removing small dents from tailgate

Removing small dents from tailgate
I have 06 SCREW and I managed to get 5 or 6 small dents in my tailgate next the blue oval. I was told to take the tailgate off and let it get very hot in the sun and then put some dry ice on it and they would pop out. Does this work? Has anybody done this? How do I get the tailgate off?<O</O
Thanks for your help.<O</O

You can remove the tailgate by having someone hold the gate in the 90% down position. Then slide the upper ends of the cables off the posts. Now tilt the tailgate up some and it will pull right off. Make sure you don't smash it on the bumper or anything!
Not sure if the heating/cooling trick works, but if you know someone that does paintless dent repair they can remove small dents easily with the tailgate on.

You maybe able to do it your self. The dent removal people will slide a 1/4" round bar in there and gently press on the dents from the inside. The bar is about 2 feet long with a small 2" bend on the end for sliding up and down and over the dent. when they fixed the dent in my door he slide a plastic clip board in between his tool and the glass.
I once removed a dent from a fender on my Buddys VW beetle with a toilet plunger.
