Not common. It's the same block as the 302 but it has a smaller bore and as a consequence has smaller valves. Valves on most heads from 289's and 302's won't clear the walls of the 255, so you'd have to stick with the stock heads. Personally, with the high price of gas, I'd consider the 255 a pretty good candidate for a economy engine. Best of both worlds.
