i have a 86 ford ranger with a 2.9
what would be the best Aggressive Sound
i have true dual with two cats and two glass packs but tail pipes roted off
is that the best or one cat be better
what mufler would be a good one
If you already have two cats, I'd stick with that if they were good. That way you won't have to mess with buying a new Y-Pipe to use a single converter and a single-in, dual-out muffler and matching tail pipes.
I like the sounds of a 2.9 and glasspacks, are you looking to change types of mufflers?
Alan, a glass pack muffler is one of the simplest mufflers out there. Instead of having metal baffles like a Flowmaster (look at their website to see inside the muffler), they have fiberglass packing (hence the name "glasspack") that absorbs sound energy. You can usually see right through a glasspack muffler because the are typically a tube design.
Glasspacks offer a unique rumble to an exhaust system. On many older pickup trucks with a custom exhaust (around here, at least), the mufflers are glaspacks. On a 4 banger, however, many people don't like the sound; it's the ricey sound of an import.
