help

i need help with my ford f-150.ok my battery is good and every thing but when i try to start the truck its doesnt do anything.it will turn on the radio and light but it will not start the motor that turns the engine over.is the ignition switch bad?we have had the truck for 10 years and we are fixing it up. <TABLE class=quote cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 width="100%"><TBODY><TR><TD width="100%">also When I turn the switch it does not rebound from start position like it should. Is this the key lock or the actual ignition switch lower on the column? Can I simply wire in a pushbutton switch to temporarily solve the problem, until I can get it to the dealer? </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

sounds like the ignition switch itself needs to be adjusted. mine had a similar problem until i adjusted the switch that's bolted to the lower steering column; then it starts right up from the ignition cylinder.

welcome to fte.

try jumping the solenoid.

i always say to anyone havng this problem to check the spade connection on the starter. pull it off and put it back on. it may be loose or corroded.

an actuater is down the column, the key is just to lock it.

do not go to the dealer, try what i have said first.
