I am trying to change my fuel pump but I have yet to find one in town. A local dealer priced it to me for $560, O'Reilly's priced it for $91.
After doing some searching here I have found some claims that dealers are selling for as little as $120, and chain stores are selling for $180.
Anyone have a good source for these pumps? What is a fair price? I was hoping to leave on a road trip Monday and I could sure use one of these SOON.
I just changed the one on my 97. Although mine is an E series, I assume yours is the same as mine (mechanical in the valley). Mine was about $150 at the dealer, $110 at NAPA, and $95 at AZ. I would stay with a Carter. AZ is not Carter. I spent about another $50 on hoses, gaskets etc.
I just got mine at checkers for 89.07 no hoses though. Check to make sure that is the prob my truck still will not start I am waiting on a CPS hopet hat does the trick..
trike1946, who builds the one for AZ? I thought that Carter was the only one that built our pumps and different parts companies, NAPA etc. put them in there box, but the pumps are stamped Carter. I have never seen the one that AZ sells. Just curious for my own info.
I asked when I went there and they gave me another name, but I don't remember it. It was from Mexico. It is so much work to change it I won't take a chance. NAPA said theirs was Carter, but they were out of stock. I was stuck paying the highest price from Ford. That was also Carter. AZ definatelly was not though.
