292 engine color

292 engine color
What is the original color of a 292 V-8 in a 1960 F-600, The only color I have is a gray on the valve covers. I am not sure if that is original or a rebuild paint job. Thanks for your help

As far as I've been able to gather Intel on this, each year was a different colour & each C.I. family had a different colour for the year they were manufactured in, till about '65, then all engines were painted that Ford Blue.

That could be a pewter color on the valve covers, not gray. That would make sense. You would think Ford Red would last longer than 46 years on a hot block. Anyway, thanks for the info and am headed for the parts store for Vermillion & Pewter paint.
