I'm new to this site, but have quickly relized that a lot of you are very knowledgeable about diesel engines. I've recently become a huge fan of Ford diesels, but my rents on the other hand....well there a bit harder to convince. I'm trying to get them to help me change in my '97 ext. cab F-150 for an '02 or newer F-250 crew cab diesel. Whats the best logic, numbers, and other info I can provide to them to try to get a diesel? (Is trying to get a diesel a smart decision on my part?) I'm at college most of the time, but i need my pick-up all the time, and until recently, the price of diesel around me had been cheaper than gas....but then again a diesel engine needs more upkeep and maintanance. Thanks a lot for all of your help and info.
I havent done a lot of driving in the past (just shy of 10,000 yr.), but I'm about to start putting a decent amount of miles on the next truck (at least double, but probably more than that). I'm also trying to look for a truck that will last for me when i move to NY (definately getting 4x4 no matter what. and as far as bad winters, how do diesels do in the cold.). as far as towing, i often have a small landscaping trailer behind me now, but if i got a larger truck, would probably pull the family boat (23' aquasport offshore) and our 24' enclosed trailer. towing isnt as much of a problem as is dependability. thanks for your input.
