Fuel pump? Heeeeelp!!!!!
After the truck died (97 7.3) I tried the fuel pump. Put a new one on and still wont start. When the truck died it made a lot of black smoke shudded and that was it. I dont think i am getting any diesel to the injectors as when itry to stars it no evidence of fuel aqt the exhaust. Any suggestions ? thank you. Broke Down in NM..

Yes, we checked ALL the fuses and there is no exhaust...can you tell me where the CPS or fuel rail sensor are located? We've read on other threads that this may have something to do with the problem, but we're not sure where to find it. We've replaced both fuel pump and filter...we're at a loss as to what to look at next...thanks for the response!

The CPS is located about 10 oclock on the harmonic balancer. Here's some other sensors:
