hello, my question is did ford offer the factory tach in the'61-'66 f-100&250 pick-ups? i know the offerd one in the larger series trucks that was cable driven. is their any way to make them work in the pick-up application? thanks.
The Master parts catalog does have them listed as being available for all F-series trucks from 100 and up. However, the one for the F-100 was supposed to be a 6K tach and all I've ever seen are 4K. SO, yes they were available, but obviously were not very common.
The tachs run off of a tach-drive distributor which is going to be found moslty in early t-birds. That means $$$$$$. The distributors usually go for close to $300 for a used one and the tachs vary when you can find them.
There was also an optional vacuum guage for these trucks. A dash with both the tach and vacuum guage really looks nice.

LAST EDITED ON 10-Mar-01 AT 09:48 PM (EST)[p]I've got one of these dashes with the tachometer from a larger truck. It is the 4000 rpm tach. I have the dash with tach, drive cable, and the distributor from a y-block. I would sell it for $100 plus shipping. email me at trukfarm@frontiernet.net
also have just the tach for $20 plus shipping
Nate, did the tach and vacuum gauge replace the oil pressure
and amp gauges, or are they mounted elsewhere??? I wonder if a tach drive distributor would be available for the 300 6 or was the tach just a V8 thing???
I'm not even certain that they were available forthe 66 trucks- or how they would have been mounted. On teh 61-65 trucks the guages mounted on either side of the center speedo cluster in the 3-1/2" round places on the sides. You know- the ones that everyone wonders why they are there. I have no idea about the 6 dash, though.
