I'm in the process of restoring a 66 effie, i was wondering where i could get a (tri-power, six pack) what ever you want to call it, for a 390 cuz that's what i've found to put in my 66 and also, my speedo is a rectangular shape and every other 66 that i've seen in person is round except for one. Does that mean i have a custom cab? what's the difference? i have no emblems on the truck there were none on it when i bought it so i was just wonedering. what tranny comes behind them? automatic and stick. thanx

I would rather push a ford than drive a chevy.
Justin, It sounds like you are finding something that we talk about once in a while here, In 35 years a lot of things can be changed out. The round dial speedo was in the biggest majority of the trucks, but the left to right sweep was installed in the custom cabs. A custom cab would have a horn ring and not just a center button on the steering wheel.
You will need to go to swap meets, ebay etc., your find your carb setup.

In the cool still quite of night you can hear chevies rusting away.
Justin, the tri-power setups are easy to find at Ford swap meets. I don't know where you live but there is a big swap meet at the end of this month here in Columbus, Oh. I'm sure there will be some there. I don't know the price range. I haven't paid much attention. I actually had one years ago and sold it. They look great under the hood, but I do want to say they are very difficult to tune correctly. Adjusting the linkage just right is a nightmare.
Your speedo is a Custum Cab item. If you truck is a C/C it will also have the plastic door panels that are the same color as the lower part of the dash (red or white). These deteriorated badly. If they're gone you may have holes in you doors where the trim attaches. Like John said, who knows what has been changed over the years.
well i know alot have things can be changed out, it had an olds motor, but i don't know about the steering wheel it wasn't on it when i got it. but the door panels are just like the ones i seen in the custom cab they are kind of oval shaped (roughly) and are vinyl looking.

Starting in '64, Convenience options were: four-wheel drive, Right-hand sun visor, Left or right- hand storage compartment, Windshield washer, Two-speed electric windshield wipers, Seat belts, Radio, Fresh air heater, Grille guard, ICC clearance and marker lights, Bright metal bodyside molding (Styleside), Full foam cushion seat, Outside rearview mirrors, and Heavy-duty rear springs (F-100).
There was a safety package which included a padded dash and visors.
And the Custom Cab package, which Includes: Spriped upholstery with bolster and vinyl facings, chrome horn ring, cigar lighter, left-hand armrest, right-hand sunvisor, extra insulation, bright metal grille and headlight assembly, bright metal windshield reveal, matched locks on both doors, and two-tone interior.
My '64 CC has all of the CC options except for the horn ring (The steering wheel has been replaced), Plus a Left hand storage compartment, Fresh air heater, Full foam cushioning, and Outside mirrors.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, stirs the soul, saying I'm a bad **** like lettin'em rip with a window shaking, fuel gulpin, carbon monoxide belchin, attention gettin, V-oh my LORD!-8!
if you have no custom cab nameplates, 3 things may have happened. Someone removed them and filled the holes, someone swapped the doors at one time (Does your ID plate on driver's door match the truck?) Or someone swapped the cluster from a Custom Cab. If the doors are different, the CC moldings may not be in evidence. Is there chrome trim over the doors inside that provides a headliner edge? Is the original floor mat a color other than black? Lots of clues to look for..

About the olds motor, it was gone the day after i got it, it was blowed up anyways typical GM crap. It sounds like i have the custom cab, nothing Ticks me off more than a perfectly good ford with a ch*vy motor in it. THe resto is coming slow because i have no air tools and the bolts are so rusted i can't get them off with elbow grease. Thanx for all your responses i appreciate it, I couldn't have got as far as i have it's hard to try to restore one and get another one (78 f150) running good when you are 16 with very little money. Also, do any of u know of any body that wants a factory behind the seat gas tank and sender with no rust? I have the filler neck too, if you do email me at fantastic_offroad_dependability(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
