Ok,,, need some help here on pulling. The Ex 2000 pulls to the right.
I have :
Wheel alignment .. helped some on the numbers. Spoke to alignment tech who told me it is on the "ford" spec and he might be able to take some of the pull out with a trade off in tire wear.
Installed new tires
Rotated tires left to right to confirm if it is tire pull no change in pulling to right.
Checked brakes for wear. They were ok with slide pins free.
Checked 4wd hubs to make sure they are releasing and they are. The 4wd is NOT engaged when pulling.
No sag on the springs.
Front end parts, ball joints etc are in good shape and verified with alignment.
Tire pressure is 50 PSI within 2 psi all the way around.
No uneven loading, just me and the wife in the Ex.
Pulling is when driving with cruise on or braking not any noticable difference.
So any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Jim
Wow, since you have checked 90% of the things that do cause it,,,,hmmm only other thing that comes to mind is axle to axle alignment, or axles to frame alignment. Years ago my brother drove dads van in a ditch, broke leaf spring on rt. side, I had to fix it, well for about 6 mos he said it pulled to the rt. checked center to center front to rear and found out the rear axle wasn't straight with the frame(my bad) loosened the u-bolts, pop right into the hole. So, after all that, has it been off-road, maybe check your sway-bar bushings and drop links, does it sit a bit lower one side to the other, leaf springs do break, sometimes right in the middle. Pitman arm tight, and steering gear box, also check the steering stabilizer.
Thanks for the info. Haven't found anything bent or broken, but I was wondering about the "alignment #s" Mine is set "by the book".. does anyone have one that give even tire wear and drives straight, and if so,, what were the alignment #'s used. It is possible that the numbers used to set mine are incorrect eventhough I know the guy personally doing the work. If he said he set it by the numbers, I believe him, but the book could be wrong as it was on my wife's Mercedes and Corvette when it came from the factory. The numbers were right if we were driving over 150 mph,, but at US highway speeds the numbers cause issues. So thanks again, I will keep looking.
Thanks Jim
