Prodigy Controller Problem

Something to note is the lights don't come on until the brake is applied when the trailer isn't hooked up. Even then, it will only have one or two LED's on (depending on setup) until you hook up the trailer. It goes to "sleep" after a while (don't remember how long).

Color coding may or may NOT be correct, but if I remember right, MY connections were color coded exactly as the controller wires.

Done and done!
Prodigy working fine. Spent Saturday starting at the beginning with a multi-meter and advice from the forum. Here's what I found:
1. Done assume anything...wiring diagrams appear to be more suggestion than anything.
2. Start at the beginning. Fuse was missing from the panel under the hood!
3. The Ford connector provided for the Prodigy worked fine.
4. Ground on the trailer was rusty and un-reliable. Cleaned and re-mounted.
5. Previous owner (Chevy) had an adaptor going from blade type to pin type. Was completely mis-wired for Ford.
6. Replaced pin connector with blade connector. Had to reconfigure the wiring layout in the new connector.
7. Road tested and configured the Prodigy.
8. Spent Sunday riding horses at tree farm! Awesome day.
Lessons learned...
This forum is a great resource. Rely on your multi-meter, not wiring diagrams. Record your own diagrams for future use. Keep extra fuses.

2. I think they usually leave it out because a trailer brake controller does not come with the vehicle. That is why I mentioned it. With my Surbaban, they had a harness (wimpy one) and a fuse.
3. That is brand new and usually has no issues
4. They usually are. I use SS hardware and also use some sort of electrical sealant.
5. POs usually hack the thing up. I remove stuff and solder it whenever I get a chance.
