Does anyone know if running this superchip at max performance setting will hurt motor? I have stock exhaust. Someone was saying I would lift the heads on motor running this setting.
I chipped my 05. I mainly run it in economy mode (still make a lot of extra power there) but I have run it in performance mode some. No issues ever BUT, if I were going to run it hard in performance I would install an EGT guage just to be on the safe side.
Iv'e been using a superchip 1805 in my 2005 psd for about 6 months now and found I get the best power output and the best mileage in performance mode. I do have an MBRP 4 inch cat back system and AFE converter delete just to be safe. So far no problems at all.
Put in a Pyro guage to monitor the exhaust gases and you will have an idea what is going on. Bigger exhaust will help but this would be a good 1st step to see if there are isues if/when you get on it.
I've been running mine in Hi-Performance now for 6-7 months with no problems on a stock truck. It has helped highway mileage about 1-2 more mpg running around 75-80. Keep the rpms under 2000 and it really does help the mpgs. Anyways i dont think it will hurt your motor as long as you dont abuse it. Install egt gauge and you can keep an eye on things. I installed mine in the driveway and it only took about 2 hours. Just take your time and be carefull installing it. Hope this helps!
I have been running the Flashpaq on my 05 for about 3 months. I keep it in performance mode most of the time. I am going to haul some calves to the sale tomorrow so I reprogrammed it to "tow safe" tonight. Then when I get back, I will change it back to performance. It only takes a few minutes to program it.
Superchips is the safest tuner out there. I believe that they sell over 125,000 units per year.
I've been running Superchips in the Economy mode in my 05 for 37K with no trouble. I also put in the MBRP 4" off-road exhaust and drive pretty conservatively.
Well, ya'll knew I was going to comment on this one. The 1800 series is a major improvement for this product line. I just wish they would have come clean about the 1700 problems. Too many of those got the truck owners screwed on their warranty. I won't use them anymore.
