Another Rear End Question

I have a 2004 F250SC long bed with the 5.4L V8. It has the 3.73LS rear end. This truck has a GCWR of 13,500#. The problem is that when I put a slide in camper on it, pull about a 6,000# boat/trailer combination and load the family in the truck, I gross out about 15,500#. Although I know the truck can do it, I don't like being that much over what the truck is rated for. I know that changing to the 4.10 rear end will increase the GCWR to 15,000#. My question is - does anybody know what the GCWR would be with a 4.30 rear end? If I had the same truck in a 2005 or 2006 model It would be rated at 16,000# GCWR. I guess I bought a year too early.

I almost never do any towing, so this is an interesting question for me too. I have a 2003 and just switched to 4.30's from 3.73's. I didn't give too much thought to the GWVR increase. Would be interesting to know.

Sorry for piggybacking on the thread.

PHWLEE,
The gear change doesn't affect the GVWR. It does affect the GCWR. Just wondering why you changed gears in your truck?

I had a 2001 F250 SuperCab, V8 with 4.10 gears. That truck ran great and had excellent acceleration............ Now I got my present truck which is a 2003 F250 CrewCab, V10 that came with 3.73 gears. I definitely felt that this truck had horrible acceleration. I know the CrewCab is heavier, but the extra weight should have been compensated by the extra 2 cylinders. It was like driving a bus..... taking it's sweet time. I know the gear change would put more torque to the wheels and the power band would switch more towards the lower end rpm wise. So, I decided to get the gears swapped to the 4.30's. I can definitely feel the difference now. I still have not once stomped on the accelerator, so who knows what would happen..... but that is why I changed the gears.
