V6 timing

V6 timing

Does the 4.2 l. overhead cam V6 have a chain drive or a rubber belt like most 4 cyl.?

If you scroll back up to the top of the page you can see the text that identifies this as the 3.8 & 4.2 V6 forum. You had posted this in the 2.6, 2.8, 2.9, 4.0 forum. You should get a better responce here...

The 4.2 is a conventional pushrod motor - no overhead cam(s).
It does use a cam chain, not a belt.
No routine maintenance is required.
Just have to replace it if it breaks. I have no recollection of ever hearing of one breaking.
